Part 3: Demystifying the SIJ and Pelvis - Biomechanics and Stability

Presentation summary:

Part 3/3 - Biomechanics and Stability of the SIJ and Pelvis

This presentation discusses the basic biomechanics of the pelvis with a particular focus on the SIJ. By understanding the combination of the anatomy and biomechanics of the pelvis you can begin to have a look as some key aspects of pelvic stability The biomechanics of the SIJ underpins the Form-Force Closure model of pelvic stability and this presentation also aims to clear up some of the controversies that surround the SIJ and pelvis.

Ideas from clinical reasoning have provided us with a basic understanding of this joint but we now have an extensive body of research providing a more evidence informed approach to understanding normal mechanics of the pelvis and to give us a more comprehensive method of addressing SIJ dysfunction.
