The Sporting Shoulder

Andrea is a Specialist Sports Physiotherapist who graduated with a BAppSc (physiotherapy) with distinction from the University of South Australia in 1988 and then completed a Master of Applied Science (sports physiotherapy) from the same university in 1994.  She has worked at the Australian Institute of Sport since March 1995, working mainly with the National Women’s Water Polo and AIS Gymnastics programs since that time. Since 2006, she has been the sports medicine coordinator for the National Women’s Water Polo program. 

Career highlights include being a team physiotherapist at the World University Games 1997, World Swimming Championships 1998, Commonwealth Games in 1998 with Australian Gymnastics, 2000 Sydney Olympics with Water Polo, and the 2004 and 2008 Olympics as Headquarters physiotherapist.  Her main professional interests include management of disorders of the shoulder complex and hip and groin injuries.
