Myofascial Release: Essential Perspectives for the Manual Therapist

Taso is a highly skilled manual therapist with 20years of clinical experience; he qualified in 1994 in South Africa. Early in his career he travelled to the UK where he completed his Master’s degree in Sports Medicine from the University of Nottingham and then spent 8 years gaining invaluable experience from working in a number of highly regarded Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinics in London.

Taso has lived in Sydney since 2005 and 7years ago established his own clinic, Spinal Synergy Physiotherapy, to focus his attention on addressing spine related dysfunction. He has a particular interest in treating SIJ dysfunction but has also been using Myofascial Release extensively as a treatment method.

He has been exploring the fascial system and learning about this important body wide 3-dimensional matrix for over 10years and is excited by the interest and new developments taking place in the world of fascia. He has been fortunate to learn from some of the recognized experts in the field including Leone Chaitow, Thomas Myers, Robert Schleip, including lectures and talks given by Antonio Stecco and Helene Langevin.

Webinar Overview

Traditionally fascia has been thought of as an inert structure with a passive role such as cushioning, providing muscular attachments or investing different body structures but generally considered less important system.

Fascia is anything but inert, it is a very active tissue fundamental to movement and health of the body with important roles in joint stability, general movement co-ordination, proprioception & nociception.

The fascial system presents a model that looks at the synergistic, body-wide relationship between structures and is essential in the understanding of human movement and dysfunction. Fascia is having a profound effect on manual therapy.
