Part 3: The Integrated Systems Model for Pain and Disability - Finding the Driver. Pain and Connecting the Whole Person

Science and clinical experience support that people with dysfunction and pain present with non-optimal strategies for function and performance. But how do we change strategies?

Join LJ Lee as she introduces the key concepts behind the clinical reasoning frameworks of The Integrated Systems Model for Pain & Disability (Lee & Lee 2007) and The Thoracic Ring Approach (LJ Lee).

Both models use the concept of Meaningful Task Analysis (LJ Lee 2008) to “Find the Driver”, or the true underlying reason for the patient’s problem. Treatment to the underlying driver(s) removes barriers to change and unlocks potential for neuroplasticity, new movement strategies, and a different bodily experience. In this way, a pathway to reconceptualize pain is created
